long overdue update

I don't feel like going over a few months of happenings, but whatever. I have some goals from now until Christmas.

1. 120k hands. probably 2 weeks of 40k apiece. Probably 80k 10/20 - 15/30 and 40k 30/60+ if I can help it.

2. Do well on Vancouver trip (not 100% going yet), qualify for pca, maybe a commerce trip?

A brief recap of the lameness that is losing money while still cashing in an event:
I start day at 16.5k, run it down to 9900. Start play at 600/1200 iirc and just crush the table run hot and get it up to 40k. This is like 2x average and I'm starting to feel really good about how I'm playing. Get moved to a new, tough table. I get to 56k at the very start of the 1200/2400 level and start losing every pot I play. Eventually we get down to 26, paying 24, and I've got like 50k. I then lose 2 hands in a row where the shortstack gets allin and makes a wheel. So 50k - 65k -30k just like that. laaaaaaame. I weasel ITM and eventually have 22345 brick 3x vs jesus and I am teh bustoooooooooo for $5414. Being in for $6k, this sucks.

busted inthe 1500 plo rebuy long time ago, not gonna put up a trip report.

So the 2-7 event starts off with me drawing a decent table and some big rebuy pots. During the rebuy period (!) the table breaks and I get moved to a table with Gavin Griffin, Howard Lederer, Steve Zolotow and 2 randoms. I work my cruddy stack up to 12k by the end of 150/300 and feel pretty good about it despite being in for all of it (6k). This table breaks, I go to the table with Jeff Madsen and Chau Giang and bleed off some chips here not really winning any pots. Again, my table breaks, ending up at this gem. Seat 1, groth911t from stars, seat 2 me, seat 3 cindy violette's mantoy or whatever. Seat 4 good player with a million chips. Seat 5 Dewey Tomko, Seat 6 Barry Greenstein. Tomko busts quickly and Jennifer Harman is moved into the seat. Eventually, Barry loses a large pot to groth911t and I get the rest of the chips when I open 8662x, draw 2 to the 862 and brick, draw a 4, then a 3 for alllll the chips. So now I have 2 copies of Ace on the River, but this one has a personalized intro. wooooot.

Fun way to run during the wsop. Basically, this month has only gone well on the baseball front. 1500 wsop event? Run bad never get chips. Side action lhe? Down like 11k. Side action plo? up a little. 1500 rebuy? sell off 65%, get owned in the rebuy period, have a bad table draw, never get chips to do anything and basically play really well to even last 10 hours.
Online plo? Disaster.

Basically, screw this month right now. Everything since my bday has been utterly rigged.

Ok, day starts off losing like ~15k at 100/200. Gooooooooood morning, Jameson! Suitably annoyed, I check some baseball box score from the games I have wagered on (they are in the links on the right). I see both heavy underdogs at +220 ish are winning, in TB's case handily. I go over to KT's to grab dinner and watch on satellite as TB walks in the winning run capping off a 6 run 9th for the guy we want not to win. Expletive. I go eat dinner and head over to rio, wait a few hours to get into a game, and end up making ~11k in a 25-25 plo game with a 50 straddle from the winner of the previous hand. This includes me winning a ~17kish pot, largest cash game pot I've ever won, against Josh Arieh. Fun times. There's other weird personal stuff involving family and a couple other things in there, but that's the gist of it. I had won like ~5k the day before so it's not like I'm even down money now, just essentially moved it offline for free. I'll probably post a graph soon that shows the ridiculous session.

I'm running supid hot in april playing almost no hands. Playing on absolute early and almost exlcusively WPX as of late, which is kinda lame. I've started betting baseball based off of crockpot's (Jamie/nip) analysis and that's gone pretty damn well thus far. As far as this thing goes, I'll consider 5 posts a month a lot but that's a lot considering I did none in 3 months. And here's a meaningless graph, exhibit A in why I gotta play more:

The legislation business is panning out as pretty bad, the games on the remaining sites seems to be substnatially more variable than pre-bill games. Stars having less rb (via fpp) is another thing killing my percieved earn right now.

sucked out a couple times, played good, KTs < AJo at the FT where 4 of us had 10 blinds. Coulda folded some, but I wanted 13k.

Today's play was also stellar, as seen above. I played a lil more after that but am too lazy to redo the pictures. Dropped $450 playing 5/10 and 10/20 after I did the graphics. So all in all up almost exactly 6k. So for challenge, up $3.6k on ub, $10.8k on absolute, and $1.2k on stars. $15.6k in total, when I should be at 25k. Dammit. Snapping this off woulda done it.

I'm currently doing a challenge with brendan (csc) and kevin (doughhater) to make 50k in 50 days. It's currently day 9, and I just got unstuck for the challenge. I am awesome.

I intend to do this using only 5k as well. Obv, looks more like 35k than 50k, but perhaps I can snap off a couple multis and get there. Trying to go to aruba as well, that's rather soon and I need to make that decision quite soon.

yeah, if someone actually reads this, leave a comment. I have no idea how little traffic this gets, but I'll start throwing up some challenge graphs soon.

I am up to about ~3500 in money spent on wsop qualifying. I've made 1 DS ft for 1 buyin back and 2 33r's for 650 each, but obv no seat. I dropped 120 BB's at 10/20 6 max today in 800 hands, and I hate everything. So yeah, sorry for lack of updates. I just suck so much at poker, followed by being even worse mentally = this.

dropped many thousands today. highlights:

getting in 1500 in preflop at 3/6 plo with AA55 double suited against AA96 one suit. I flop a 5 and lost to a flush.

lost 600 with aa vs better aa allin preflop in plo.

I rebuy ~30 times in the stars 33r wsop sat. I have 5k, the min, at the break. within 20 minutes I have that to 28k and second position, then have aa vs chip leader with 77. we get in 1k preflop, 2k more on the 433 flop, and a 7 turns. I make a shitty river call for my last 14k and gg me.

I haven't been winning online playing plo at all, really. I keep losing like a buyin or 2 each session I play, but yet win at sh limit. wtf?

played a bunch of tourneys today, cashed in both 10r's for roughly what I was in for, then got 5th in a 33r where first was a wsop seat. that one really, really makes me frustrated and depressed right now. I played v well, got 5 handed and pulled a move on a guy will to stack off preflop with A7 at 3k/6k for nearly 175k. I don't know what to think of it all, honestly. fwiw 9th-2nd all paid the same and I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to play that 5 handed against the other guy right at my stack size, with the huge stack in between us me having position.

The more I think about the tourney the more it hurts.

I FT-bubbled a $5 rebuy for a pittance...I play quite well throughout.

Went to Caesar's tonight, chopped a $525 sng HU for $2060. That was fun. I might have to continue doing that, it was quite soft.

If I was playing more poker, I probably would update this more. I probably need to do a challenge again.

it's tourney time this month in vegas, so some april goals. I'm feeling pretty good thus far, the time off has helped a bit as far as general disposition goes.

1) play a lot online if I'm not on the strip. I could stand to make back my tax money.

2) play good live. I could concievably play 10 days live this month. I need to play better than I did 2 days ago.

3) play better, period. nice discussion last night kinda reminded me that I don't think about poker nearly enough

4) watch a bunch of cubs games. obvious.

if I were to set some hands goals, let's say 40,000. ~2k-3k on days where I'm not out and about seems reasonable, though I may go back to sngs. I am clearly undecided on that. sngs seem like the plan for random robotic money printing, but I do want to not suck at limit.

I've decided that 8 tabling 5/10 6 is too stressful/high variance to maintain my goal of millions of hands per day. Fullring probably is not, so I'm going to explore between that, sngs, and just maybe 4 tabling 10/20 again on which one I want to do the rest of the month. I also wasn't making nearly enough from the games vs rakeback.

So now my goals are $/hr and making sure I hit my VIP bonuses. Played about 39000 hands of 5/10. I reserve the right to start doing it again tomorrow and hit like 75,000 hands for the month, but I was playing so poorly today which needs to not happen.

I stopped playing after I was up 150bbs to eat. I come back and play that mess of hands. I really, really, really dislike poker right now. The boundaries of normal variance are really underestimated by everyone that plays. I was looking forward to winning more in one day than the challenge thus far. Also, I'm making about as much from playing as I am from rakeback. Wonderful confidence booster that is.

I should be around 42,800 hands right now to be on pace. I'm at 36747. I may play some more tonight but the tables look bad and I doubt I'm in the proper mental state. Looks like I need to put in either some consistent extra hands for the next week or do a poker bender and fix that pronto.

A really bad start (F U seattle) to the day ended up ok as my evening session went well despite massive headache and other gripes. Tables weren't great either, so I am cutting tonight way short at 2725 hands. That puts me in a hands deficit I'll need to makeup the rest of the week, but losing so many hours to the super bowl does that.

I'll post some pt screenshots when I hit day 7 I think. I've ran really well the past 2 days, really, so I dunno what my winrate should be but it's looking lower than what I wanted. Then again, my dip this morning was entirely getting sucked out on in large pots at the river vs superdonkey.

Woke up at 730, have put in roughly 6 hours of play thus far.

2588 hands at -$576.75. Fucking stellar. Losing money with AKo, KJs JTs and whatnot isn't helping. Running like shit at showdown isn't helping and my wtsd is down 3% from what it has been at, so I am running exceeeeeeeeeedingly bad at the moment.

Three of the bigger fish in the games each have $200 of my money I want back.

I think I'm going to do a challenge and update it here. The goal is 100,000 hands, which would equate to making $30,000 in 30 days if I maintain a solid winrate with rakeback. I reserve the right to run bad, play more hands, or give up a week in and just get sloshed instead. Everyone else's job in all this is to ask me how many hands I've gotten in every few hours to remind me not to be my typically lazy self.

This is similar to the 60k in 60 days some more famous contemporaries have done on 2+2, except they are good at poker. One key to doing this? Actually having normal hours so I can get a set routine. Waking up at 10pm = very bad for this project.

I've played some stars 11r lately and a bunch of hand fullring. I really dunno the purpose of this yet. Maybe I'll look over my final 2 table in the 11r hh and post some interesting hands.

I'm not sure how comfy I would be divulging the day-to-day and totals for ring games type stuff in my blog...input on that would be appreciated.
